Lady Justice was commissioned by a talented, female litigator.  She wanted a piece for her office that reflected her feminine spirit but also her profession.  Capable and smart, she is not a lady to be messed with in the court room, but she’s also the most amazing mother and friend.  Who better to illustrate this than Lady Justice, a symbol for lawyers everywhere.

My challenges: depicting a human form through collage and the intersection of the human form with the butterflies. I stripped Lady Justice of her usual classical garb and dressed her in a black dress and heels. I spent a long time moving butterflies across the canvas before I found what felt like an organic migration.
